I can’t believe I’ve already been in the field for a month. I love it so much out here. The people are so freaking awesome and I love getting to know the culture more. Yes the koloqua is coming along. Small small. A lot of my boys have been doing their emails day by day which I thought is pretty genius so I guess I’ll do it too hahaha.
Monday- last p day was chacla. We were rushing around buying groceries cause our food supply was running low. We did all our washing in the morning which takes like two hours. It’s insane. For all you missionaries or anyone out there with a washing machine, be grateful cause you’ve got it easy. Called home. All the good stuff. Went to a YSA meeting. Ya it’s awkward being a missionary at ysa hahaha.
Tuesday- District council in the morning is always so awesome. We had a great discussion about the Law of Consecration. A lot of people think a lot of different things about this law. So I encourage you all to go study it cause there’s actually some amazing doctrine in there. We went and come some cobo which I’m finally starting to love now. It was alright in the beginning but now it’s amazing. We went and visited some members. Played some ludo. Which is a board game everyone has here. It’s kinda like sorry but really fun and everyone can get vexed when you play. We went and taught four more lessons, got a few free meals, and did about an hour of finding which ended up being pretty successful.
Wednesday – I’ll skip the recap of the day and just go straight into the crazy story. So there’s this one guy thst lives close to us. He’s a minister for some church in Liberia. He always says hi to us and stuff so we asked if he wanted to sit down sometime and study and discuss the gospel with us. He agreed so we went over thst night. It started off all good. And then they started talking about some weird beliefs they had about death, the holy ghost, all the good stuff. They thought that if you belief in their gospel you wont die but if you belief in a different gospel youll die and go to hell. They loved reading and using the Bible but they took a lot of it really literally. So at one point this guy starts going off and I swear I looked in his eyes and saw a madman. It was crazy. Elder Batila then continued to blast them and tell them they’re wrong. A lot of stuff went down. Ask my family if you want the good stuff. But in the end I bore my testimony to them. It was super powerful if I do say so myself. Like me crying and saying I would die before I denied this gospel. After I said it I was like whoa dang I actually would. And then they proceeded to laugh and say some stuff about how I’m gonna die because I’m not a believer. So ya they’re bums but it’s okay. First experience of blasting people. Won’t be the last.
Thursday- went on an exchange with Elder Lumumba today. He’s a good missionary and we were teaching a lot. We taught a lot about the power of the Book of Mormon, read a lot from it, and watched the videos with them. Those videos are epic go watch them.
Friday – a lot of teaching today. And a lot of free meals. Three of the four meals were fried potato green soup which I loooove. So that was epic. We were teaching a lot about the plan of salvation today which was awesome. As I’ve veen studying more about the plan, I’ve found some insanely interesting and epic doctrine. So it was cool to apply it to my teaching and see people realize like, oh that actually makes sense. So Friday was pretty awesome.
Saturday- no small rain today. I’m talking hurricane level stuff. We had a baptism in the morning for the other elders so we went and helped them out with some talks and being witnesses so that was sick. We also had a lot of walking today because of the rain there were only a few kekes. So we were soaked to the bone like the whole day. I’ve never seen so much rain in my life. But it was epic because we got some free snacks and meals from the people we were teaching hahaha.
Sunday- epic day as usual. Sundays are always a lot of contacting with members. We went to one Oma’s house and gave her a blessing because she’s been having some health problems. But it was super powerful and awesome. Got some free pepe soup, spicy as heck but so good. Overall an epic day.
Today – went and got all our emergency food for the upcoming election. There’s been some crazy rallies going on lately because of it hahaha. So we’ll see how this goes.
Overall, doing awesome even though I’ve been a little sick the past few days. I love going out and teaching it’s my favorite. Been so in tune with the spirit lately and had some super strong and powerful experiences lately. But I only got so much time to write hahaha.
Invitation- get ready for General conference. It is such a blessing we have to hear from men inspired of the Lord. Study past talks, read your scriptures, pray for guidance, prepare questions. The whole deal. General conference is no small thing and we should not take it for granted. Prepare, prepare, prepare. And watch it that’s a good idea too.
Didnt realize how long this email is haha. Love you all! You guys are awesome!!! Keep sending emails and stuff it’s the best.
-Elder Good Man
Sorry for only the few pics, but I took a lot of videos and I can’t send them cause we have no data hahaha.
1) Repping ASU in Africa, plus a sketchy bridge
2) chilling after one of hour long walks
3) YSA as a missionary is so awkward
