Well here it is. My last email before the dreaded election day. It’s tomorrow so we’ll see how this goes I guess. President Thomas has told us that we are for sure going to stay in our apartments all day on Tuesday so thats going to be fun. The most epic thing though is that I’m in the one apartment that has a ping pong table in the whole entire mission. So that is literally going to be a life saver. We might be able to go out a few days this week but we’ll just have to take it day by day. The election results don’t come out until the 25th or something so we’ll be able to go out in between. Every day that we do go out though, President wants us inside by 6. Well before dark. So ya it’s gonna be an interesting time. Got all our emergency food, weekly food, and of course the stash of toilet paper. Feels like the covid pandemic again haha. We’re not expecting anything crazy but we’re prepared in case anything goes down. If worse comes to worse… well I might be serving somewhere else for a few months hahaha.
This week has been kinda crazy because of the election. There’s been a lot of rallies and other things. So a lot of the people we have been trying to teach have been busy and everything else. We did get to teach a few of our awesome and strong investigators so thats been awesome.
George is one of our stronger investigators, we just have to get him to come to church a few times. He always leaves town on the weekend so we got to try and get him to come. One amazing study he had with him was this week. We talked a lot about President Nelson’s talk in Conference and we ended up talking a lot about temples. The guy doesn’t even know what a temple is for when he said, “I pray by the grace of God, that I will be able to see and go inside a temple one day. I pray that the Monrovia temple will be done before I die.” Holy cow. This guy is so close he just doesn’t even know. He’s so awesome. The next day we were walking by and peeked inside to see how he was doing. There he was. Sitting on thr porch. Reading the Book of Mormon. Like cmon bro just come to church 😂. He’s awesome and we always have a good time studying together.
We also put two more people on date this week!!! Jeffrey and Emanuel agreed and decided they wanted to get baptized. So we have three people we’re going to baptize on the 21st. So pray for Lincoln, Jeffrey, and Emanuel so they can prepare to get baptized!
Anyways, this week has been crazy but so filled with the spirit. Me and Elder Batila have felt the guidance and protection of the Spirit so much this week. We’ve been doing really well together and click really well. It’s been awesome!!!
My koloqua is definitely getting better and I can understand people a lot better now. Small small. It’s all about trusting thr process. I’m loving the food too. There’s been some super good soups and meals. But some disgusting ones as well but I just gotta “man up” as my dad would say.
Okay last thing. I was able to finish the Book of Mormon again this week. Such a powerful and amazing scripture I can’t even describe or state how much my testimony for it has increased. It is the BEST book to read ever. As I was listening to Moronis promise and praying to know the truth of the BOM, I was overcome by the spirit. The answer I got was clear. “Gavin, you know these things are true. Continue to strengthen your testimony and build your knowledge of this scripture.” It was so amazing. And I strongly testify of the power of the BOM. You all better be reading it every day. Or when I get back I’ll blast you!
Love you all! Send me any emails or pics if you have any questions about this amazing place!
