What up niños! Alright so for those of you who don’t know, this week was election week. Election bene is no small thing for the LIB. Hehe that rhymes. We might be going on lockdlwn again just depending on if people riot or not. As I’m writing this they are announcing the election results haha. So we’ll see how this goes.
Anyway, on Tuesday we were stuck inside our apartments to stay safe from all the people voting. Just in case there were any riots or anything. So we had district council over the phone which was awesome. The spirit was still so strong even while we were all in different places. We were able to teach one lesson over the phone so that was nice. We spent most of the day deep cleaning thr apartment. This place is nasty haha I don’t know how we don’t have more spiders and rats and cockroaches everywhere. Even though there are plenty hahaha. So I got to organize my stuff some more and go through one of my suitcases I haven’t opened yet. Found some snacks in there that expire next month. Uh oh that just means I have to eat them 😂. We did have an unfortunate incident though. Elder Folsom tripped in the shower while they were cleaning it. And the whole glass wall fell down 😳. Ya so that was stinky.
The work this week was a grind. Rainy season is starting to come to an end. Which means dry season is on its way. Good gosh the African sun is a different breed. When the sun is shining and there are no clouds in the sky, it can get bloody hot. Like just drenched in sweat haha. No wonder they have the saying here, “by rain or by sweat, you’re going to be wet.” Bars. So ya it was tough walking around sometimes haha. But we were able to teach a lot of lessons this week. Our big focus this week was getting our friends to come to church. We taught a lot about the sabbath day and why we go to church and why it’s important. And we prayed for them to come on Sunday. A lot. And it paid off!!! We had 12 of our investigators come to church yesterday and it was so awesome to see them all!
We also have been preparing our 3 baptismal candidates for their baptism this Saturday. They are all pretty strong but we’ve been reviewing some principles and lessons with them to continue to strengthen them. So pray for Lincoln, Jeffrey, and Emanuel. They are awesome and we’re hoping they’ll be able to stay strong in the gospel and continue to grow their own testimonies.
Elder Batila, the master Congolese chef himself, has been teaching me how to make some amazing meals. I’ll send some pics of what we’ve been making. Honestly if this keeps up, I might gain some weight this transfer hahaha.
Invitation for da week: pray for all of our investigators. Specifically…
1) Lincoln. We’ve had him on date for about a month. And he’s finally prepared to be baptized. Pray for him to be strong and firm in making this life changing commitment!
2) Jeffrey. Super strong kid. He always tells us how much he loves the gospel, the BOM, and missionary work. In fact, he’s said a few times he can’t wait to go on a mission himself!
3) Emanuel. Awesome kid. He’s a little shy and quiet but amazing. Pray for him to be prepared for his baptism too.
4) George. This old papa finally came to church! He’s so freaking awesome and loves the gospel. He just hasn’t been able to come to church for some personal reasons. But he has a super strong testimony and loves the church and the gospel. Hopefully, he will continue to grow and want to be baptized!
Overall, this week was awesome! We had some powerful lessons with people and the Spirit has definitely been guiding me and Elder Batila to people we need to teach and what we need to teach them. Pray that all will be peaceful during this election time!
Love you all! Keep sending pics and emails! Oh and JESUS LOVES YOU!!!
