Big epic week

Crazy stuff this week. But one of my favorites. So much to talk about so I’ll just send my highlights for the week.

– so district council is always one of my favorite times of the week. Talking about each other’s areas, helping each other, and having a great discussion just brings the spirit so strongly. One thing my district leader Elder Pelo has been doing lately is have one person share their conversion/decision to serve a mission story. So this week was my week. As I reflected on my life before I shared, I realized how much I wished I prepared for my mission better. Cause I’ll be brutally honest. I could’ve done way better. Could’ve done better in seminary, read my scriptures more, gone out with the missionaries more. All the small things I could’ve done way better. Sure I studied PMG my senior year and did the small things then, but I really wished I had been doing them my whole life. But I also realized how much Jesus Christ loves and knows me. When I thought about the hard times and the trials and the testimony rattling experiences, He was there. Always. I’ve had many life changing experiences that I shared with my district but not too much detail cause they are so sacred to me. But I will share these things that are the foundation of my testimony.

1) Jesus Christ

2) the Atonement

3) the power of eternal family

4) temples

5) the BOM

Super spiritual moment for me and a definite highlight of the week.

– on Wednesday I went on an exchange with Elder Ncube and Elder Okongwu. Elder Ncube was the AP when I got here in Liberia and he’s awesome. Elder Okongwu was actually in the same district as one of my old friends Elder Caleb Garrison. So that was crazy. Anyway, the day was so big epic. I love their area cause it’s right on the beach and it’s pretty bushy so it’s beautiful. We taught a lot of awesome and strong people about the BOM, the Restoration, and our beloved prophet. Super spiritual day. But the epic part of the day was lunch. We found this one small shop that sells some amazing spaghetti. Like some top level stuff. And that’s when I found out something epic that all three of us liked. Lord of the Rings. We were all going full on nerd mode with this stuff hahaha. I mean full on detail and stuff and we ended up talking about that the rest of the day waking to and from appointments. So we all clicked really well haha and had some awesome lessons.

– walked through my first river on Saturday. The rain started to come down baway and the road was about a 3 foot river. We didn’t have our boots and we were rushing to our next appointment. All the people were telling us to wait but me and Elder Batila just looked at each other and walked through hahaha. The people were shocked that da whi man ran through the river. Oh well. Missionary work is divine. My socks and keens were soaked the rest of the day but it was alright haha they’ll dry.

– had a crazy experience with a mentally insane dude. Or a drug addict. Or a posssesed dude. We don’t really know haha. But this man came barging into our compound when we opened the door. Came inside and said “We are one. We are home.” ya that was weird. After about 15 minutes and some excessive force, we got him back outside the compound gate but he kept on following us everywhere. We got back to the church where some members were able to pin him down and let us run away back to our apartment. Ya it was crazy. If you want more details ask my family I told them hahaha.

– just this morning our bishop finally got us a Doctrine and Covenants that we’ve been requesting for George. Every time we go see George, he says wheres my book I need that book. So just like an hour ago we got to go drop it off at George’s house. I said “Pa George we have a gift for you.” and brought out the D&C. He was so happy that he just grabbed me and gave me a big old hug and said thank you over and over haha. So I can’t wait to go back this week and read small with him.

– almost forgot haha but we had Thanksgiving on Thursday. Got to call home and see some peeps I haven’t seen in awhile. Shoutout to the Sherwood fan yall are epic. For us, we didn’t have a huge feast. But we did eat well haha. We made some pizza and even found some ice cream that we made with powdered milk and instant ice cream. Honestly it was bussing. But ya thankful for all of you haha. Can’t believe it’s now officially Christmas season.

Overall, a pretty big epic and eventful week. Loving the work. Loving the people. Loving the food. Loving my home. Cause this is my home. Sorry my pikeens but this is my place for now haha.

Love ya all!!! Keep sending me the good ol emails and updates. Liberia is epic over here and all is good. Be good and do good. And keep getting drawn in to your scriptures. And always remember. JESUS LOVES YOU BAWAY!!!

Elder Good Man
