Yo what’s good everyone hope everything is okay ooo. This week was so epic and definitely another spiritual highlight of my mission. So I’ll just get right into it.
Tuesday we just had a usual Tuesday in the work. District council is always cool cause we get to discuss things and I get to see my boys from all the other areas haha. But ya we were able to find and teach a few new people so that’s always epic. Pray they come to church on Sunday!
Wednesday I had an exchange with Elder Ah Ching from Samoa. This guy is hilarious hahaha. If you’re not laughing with him all the time there’s something wrong with you. He’s just always laughing and smiling so it was a good day even when the work was sooooo slow that day. But it was a good day.
Now Thursday was the most epic day I’ve had in a while! For those of you who don’t know, Elder Bednar and Elder Kearon (two of the apostles), Elder Godoy of the Seventy, and our whole area presidency came to Liberia. There were two reasons they came. 1) to meet with the new president of Liberia President Boikai
2) to meet with just the missionaries in Liberia
They requested to meet with only the missionaries for 3 hours in the morning. So of course we said yes haha.
It was such a spiritual meeting for me. And for everyone too. While we were waiting for the apostles to arrive at the building, we were all singing hymns together and taking small time to just prepare ourselves spiritually. So I spent some time just pondering on what I needed to learn from this meeting and thinking of the questions I had prepared. When the leaders all arrived and walked into the chapel, the Spirit that was already so strong just exploded even that much more powerful. It was insane. While we were singing hymns and praying, I felt the Spirit so strongly. For those of you who don’t know, when I feel the Spirit I get emotional baway. I get it from my dad haha. So ya I was a taaaad bit emotional during the whole conference haha. The whole time I had a direct view of Elder Kearon and me and him kept making eye contact hahaha. At one point he looked at me and winked and we both had a smile after that haha.
The conference was epic. What was so cool was that we weren’t the ones being talked at. We were having a discussion with the apostles for 3 hours. It was so cool haha. He would ask us questions, we would respond, he would ask us more, and we would respond. The last hour he opened the floor to us and we were the ones asking them questions. It was so big mega epic 😅.
Okay now onto what I learned. So the weeks leading up to the conference, Elder Bednar sent us 6 documents/talks he wanted us to study. So our first hour or so we were only discussing what we had learned from them. It was so cool to see other missionaries share what they had learned from something I had read but had interpreted differently. For the last hour or so, Elder Bednar had us being the ones to ask questions. Now that was sick. I learned a lot from that too. At the beginning of the conference, Elder Bednar told us he didn’t want us to write down things that we heard. But to write down the things we were feeling and what the Spirit was speaking to us. So at the very end of the conference, he gave us a few minutes to review and reflect what we had been learning from the Spirit. And then he had us write down what he had learned in 5 words or less. Only 5 words or less. He said, those words are the result of the Spirit speaking to you and what you needed to learn from the conference. So epic. Obviously because the Spirit speaks to us all differently I wrote down some personal things I learned that I probably won’t share with you all. But I will share 5 words of what I do know to be true and what was so strongly testified to me during the conference.
God loves all His children. Period.
I know this to be true. It can’t get any more simple than that.
Friday was epic too. Coming off of a spiritual experience, you’re ready to get to work and so ya I got to work haha. We taught 7 lessons on Friday. All by 4 in the afternoon 😳. We were cooking. We spent the rest of the day contacting people that we haven’t seen in a while and that was so good for us to and something we definitely were inspired to do.
Saturday consisted of going to the hospital all the way in town for Elder Esakalonga to check his eyes. Welp. Nothing much else needs to be said except for I’m grateful for our hospital care back home 😅. I also got a PACKAGE!!! Shout out to Mom for sending me a bunch of the essentials. Tech Decks, an electric toothbrush, socks, another pair of grandpa shoes, and of course some snacks. Couldn’t ask for anything better hehe.
Sunday we had a good turn out at church and had a good sacrament meeting. Ended up teaching the young men which was sweet. Got a few lessons and FMs and that’s about it. Just a good ol Sabbath day in Liberia!
My invitation for you all this week is gonna be pretty long. Sorry ya. I want everyone to go choose a talk from any one of the leaders of the Church. I want you to study it. Not just study it but like to deeeeeep study it. But here’s the catch. Don’t write down anything that you like from the talk. Write down the things the Spirit is telling you. Your own personal way the Spirit is speaking to you. And then I want you to take a piece of paper and summarize what the Spirit taught you in 5 words. Or less. Simple. And then if you feel comfortable sharing I want you all to send them to me and what talk you studied. But that your own a bene ooo.
Also cause I’m kind of going crazy with Elder Bednars invitation to read the scriptures better, I’d thought I’d send a spiritual thought. This one comes from D&C 123:16. “You know, brethren, that a very large ship is benefited VERY MUCH by a VERY SMALL helm, in the time of a storm, by being kept workways with the wind and the waves.” Nothing much to say cause we all know what it’s trying to say. By small and simple things are great things come to pass. Mic. Drop.
Just realized how long this email is. Yikes. Sorry ya. But I definitely could’ve written so much more cause the conference and this week were just sooooooo awesome!!!
Always epic to hear from you guys so send me pictures or emails or anything really haha. Any sports or life updates that you wanna send me too. You guys are all so epic so keep grinding and keep getting drawn into your scriptures! Love you all! Also shout out to my cousin Ella for her mission call to Argentina!
Jesus loves you baway ooooo!!!
Elder Good Man
