Ayo what’s up mighty people of Israel. It’s your boy Elder Goodman coming to you from Liberia again. Feels like I’ve written a million of these haha.
This week was just another grind in the field. Me and my companion made a goal this last week for our zone to find 7 new serious and progressing people each week. Well let me tell you. We achieved it. But it’s been pretty tough cause we have so many people already to teach and not a lot of room or time to add new people. Which means we’ve been able to kind of filter our teaching pool and see how we are really seeing progress.
Other than that it’s been sweet to see a lot of our people keeping commitments, coming to church, reading the BOM and praying. We’ve got some awesome people and elect people out here in Buchanan. Just gotta keep working to find them.
We just had general conference which was epic! Even though I wasn’t able to listen to all the talks cause of the time change, I still was so grateful for the things I learned and the speakers that spoke and the revelation I received. I think we all saw the theme going on. Temples and covenants. Ya. They’re important. So if you haven’t already been prompted or realized what the prophets were saying, make time in the temple. We’re so blessed to have two temple so close to us. It’s so easy to schedule an appointment and go. Being so far from a temple I’ve missed going so much. But what’s awesome is the power of covenants thst remind us of the holiness and sacredness of the temple. I am so beyond grateful for our Heavenly Father and His love for us to give us this amazing gift.
One of my favorite talks was just the simple testimony and teaching of President Holland of the Twelve. Ive realized on my mission how important prayer truly is to me and others. The power and feelings I can receive and others can receive when we pray is so pure. Make prayer a habit. But not just a prayer. Make a real meaningful and conversational prayer. I’m not perfect and I’m still trying to improve my prayers, but small small I’m finding it’s power and significance.
Anyway other than that, nothing much was crazy this week. Okay actually that’s a lie. I’ll tell you one small crazy story thst happened but don’t worry too much cause I’m still okay. Don’t get mad mom.
The other day we went to go teach this one man but when we started to talk to him is when things went down. This man’s friend pulls up on a motorbike. And he was just absolutely wasted 😂. Stumbling around and going crazy. This one girl started yelling at him. Cause what happened is the man stole all the alcohol she was selling and wasn’t paying her for it. So she starts yelling at him and calling him a Zogo and a rogue which is like basically just a thief. And the man loses it. And starts trying to beat this girl and swinging his arms and just going bonkers. At one point he stumbled so hard while throwing punches and almost hit me. But it’s okay. I was protected you know! Anyway they start fighting again and all these people are making a huge circle trying to protect this girl. Eventually the man runs away and the girl chases him to get her money! Money bene hard ooo! Anyway the man was so drunk that he just fell and couldn’t stand up. So some good guy came and paid the money to the girl. So ya all is good! Then the next crazy thing. Not 5 minutes after we passed by this huge funeral. All the people started running to follow the car with the casket in it. So we were just in the middle of this crowd of people going crazy and screaming and crying and jumping all around and falling on the floor to mourn. It was honestly pretty sad to see cause for me I know thst I’ll see my lost family and friends again if I just continue to endure to the end and keep my covenants. But ya I’ll keep all the crazy xrazy details out so my mom doesn’t flip out 😂
Currently writing this while watching a sweet football game. I’ll add a pic. Anyway love ya all and keep grinding and choosing the right. Go study general conference too cause it was fire. Also congrats to all my boys getting their mission calls. Couldn’t be a better decision you’re making! Send me emails and pics and stuff!
