Well this week was just another great week out in Buchanan!
First off we had MLC again this week. It was pretty sweet and I learned a lot of things that I need to improve on. We talked a lot about how integrity and honesty is a huge part of what we do as disciples of Christ. In everything we do, we need to be honest with the Lord and have integrity. There’s no room for 99% honesty. Only our full and true honest selves. Even in my family we have our family mission statement and one of them we used to have was to have integrity especially when no one is watching. It just comes down to that good old question. “If the Savior stood beside me, would I do the things I’d do?” It’s thst simple really. Anyway ya MLC was awesome as always!
Okay now it’s time for some miracles. My mom said I need to include more spiritual stuff in my emails. And ya I gotta admit I’ve been pretty bad at it haha.
– we had a lot of lessons fall through this week. Most of the time when that happens you just move on to the next lesson. But me and my companion have both been feeling prompted to just start talking to people and teach new people. This week we found 8 people that seemed just primed for the gospel! A lesson would fall through, we would look around, see someone, and just go over and teach them. And they were all so willing to listen to our message! It was epic! We even had a bunch of them come to church which was so sweet.
– one of our old investigators, named Yeekoyar Zoe so we just call him Brother Zoe haha. This man is so ready for the gospel. He talked to the missionaries on the road a week before I came here and he said he wanted to study with us. So my first week here in Buchanan we went and taught him, and boy oh boy this man is awesome. This old papay has never missed a Sunday service while I’ve been here. Only one time cause of thr rain and it flooded his house so he needed to help it out. But he is so elect. He reads his BOM and has a strong testimony about it. In fact his first fast Sunday here, he went up and shared just a very simple but powerful about the truth of the Church and the BOM. Now keep in mind this was only his second week attending service. He’s just such a legend and I love him so much. The problem has been his marriage. He is traditionally married but not civilly so that means no marriage certificate or recognition from the government. So unfortunately we cannot baptize him. But we just talked tk him today about helping his wife become interested in the church so we could possibly receive some help for the certificate from the church. He just called back a few hours ago and said his wife would love to meet with us. Tomorrow! Miracles!!! So pray for Brother Zoe and his wife!
– this last week some members in our branch were able to go to Ghana and to the temple. Now this is no small thing. For these people they have to sacrifice so much to be able to afford to go to the temple and to try and get all their documents. But God is in this work! 12 of them were able to attend, go through the temple, and all return safely. All of them gave such powerful testimonies yesterday on the power and love they felt inside. They are all so awesome and I’m so happy they were able to go!
– we have met some awesome people and I am so excited to help them continue on this path to Christ. Please keep praying for all of them as we continue to help them become true disciples and has they become truly converted by the Spirit.
Now time for some goofy highlights:
– got the chicken waffle, a butterfinger, root beer, and mountain dew when I was in town. Best trip to Monrovia ever.
– it’s been raining BAWAY which means so much mud everywhere. So we’ve been wearing our boots every day and it’s been funny when you just fall in a mud hole and your whole foot falls in 😂
– someone stole my umbrella yesterday st church. I’m vexed cause now I’m stuck in the middle of rainy season with no umbrella. Pray I find one soon.
– just made some pizza and goodness me it was good.
– been playing too much Ludo as an apartment. But he’s it’s good bonding time haha
– I’m learning a ton of Bassa (a tribal dialect here). It’s been insanely hard but so fun to talk to people and them just react so crazily when a white man is speaking Bassa to them haha.
Anyway so sorry for the long email. But it need to happen haha. Love ya all so much and I’m so stoked to continue to give my all in this work. Send pics and emails and updates of anything! Peace
Jesus loves you
Elder Good Man
