This email is gonna be long and a little all over the place. So bear with me and have patience I beg you ya.
Okay this week has been so crazy and I don’t really know where to start.
But first things first… I am now officially one year on my mission! I dont understand where time is going honestly. Like to think it’s already August, schools starting again, and new missionaries are coming. It’s just blowing my mind.
I’ll just get the sad news out of the way right now. Sadly, after a lot of suffering and fighting, my boy Elder Nelson went home. Please keep him in your prayers. Elder Nelson was a dawg and a legend and fought his sickness like an animal. A living legend for real. So because of that craziness, there were some few changes with transfers and stuff. 👇
Alright time for my news. I got an emergency transfer. No small thing there ooo. So let me explain. Because Elder Nelson went home that left a hole in town in the area of Matadi. So here’s how it went. Friday morning we were out teaching when I looked down at my phone and see a missed call from President Thomas and a message telling me to call him ASAP. So as one normally does, you start thinking of what the heck is going to happen hahaha. So I called him back and here’s basically what happened. President Thomas told me that because Elder Nelson went home, a different elder was going to replace him. So I was going to replace this elder. So I am now currently serving back as a ZL in Monrovia in the area of Congotown. Back to the city 🥲. But it’s all part of the plan so anyway. So then President told me they would be there that same evening to pick me up. So I didn’t really have time to say peace out to anyone so that’s unfortunate. Anyway, President and Sister Thomas picked me up at 8 in the evening and we drove about an hour and a half to the airport. They had to pick someone by 2 am so we got to spend the night in the Farmington hotel 😎. Holy thst place is flipping nice haha it was like I was back on vacation in a Marriott. And yes I took a hot bath. W for real. So then the next morning we drove again back to Monrovia. So it was an awesome time just traveling and talking to President and Sister Thomas. They are actually the best! President asked me a bunch of hard and deep questions and we had some great conversations. So all in all, I’m officially back to the city and in a new area 😂. Hopefully that made sense.
Okay now back in the land of Buchanan was crazy. At least when I was still there. So because Elder Sumaila is now the branch president, it made things pretty crazy. No small people were calling us and asking us for money and for Priesthood blessings and fast offerings and all that stuff. Like for real not one day didn’t go by where we had to do something for people. But it was honestly pretty eye opening. We gave a ton of Priesthood blessings this last week. And goodness I’m so grateful for the Priesthood. And for righteous priesthood holders that have been an example to me. Shout out Bishop Goodman 😉.
One guy I was studying with in Buchanan is named Roye. Roye has been fighting a lot of hard addictions for the longest time and he has finally beat it fully. We had such a great lesson with him where he finally just opened up to us and said it’s okay elders it’s okay I’ve finally broken it! So pray for Roye as he prepares for his baptism back in Buchanan!
Once again I hit my one year. It consisted of a few FMs, a bunch of lessons, and making some cake and ice cream and Fufu Congolese for dinner. Overall a sweet day.
What I’ve learned in one year? Honestly that’s a pretty awesome question that I’ve been thinking about recently. Because of time and I still got things to do, I will leave it with this. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is infinite. To think a year ago I gave my farewell talk on the Atonement and me just bawling up there, and then to think of my testimony of His Atonement now? It’s way more strong. In my year as a missionary, I’ve seen some people change from a lot of things and just completely turn themselves over to our Savior. It’s been so humbling for me for the things I’ve seen here on my mission and what people sacrifice and give just to keep the commandments. And especially just to come unto Christ. Simple and honestly, I know my Savior personally. And I’ll leave it with that.
Anyway sorry for the rushed email. Hopefully everything makes sense hahaha. We still got a bunch to do today so I love ya all. Hit me up with updates on the Olympics and the Suns and the Dbacks and all my peoples.
Jesus loves you baway!!!
Elder Good Man
