The gospel brings joy!

Hola mis amigos. Not anything crazy happened this week but we still trying. Ain’t you know how that’s just how it can be looking?

This email will be kind of short but epic haha so stay tuned.

– I got to go on an exchange to West Point and Central Monrovia. And holy cow that day was crazy. Guys I have never seen so much water come from the sky than that day. Maybe I have but it was just an insane amount of rain. Because in West Points it’s pretty much the hood of Liberia, all the houses are legit packed like a foot apart away fro each other. And they’re pretty much all made of zinc so it’s pretty wild trying to navigate through it. So because of that there’s no way at all to use your umbrella. So you basically just got pounder by all the water and rain coming from off the roofs. Thank goodness I was prompted to wear my rain jacket 😂

– I swear whenever I go on exchange I get chomped by mosquitos. They must just have a crush on me or something cause I legit got munched on that night of our exchange. It’s always exchanges where i don’t have a mosquito net either. So ya I got bit a bunch but I took 2 doxycyclines (malaria pills) so it’s chill

– awesome experience for the week! And spiritual highlight!

So basically we were having a rough day. We were going to all our appointments but just nothing was happening. It was rough. So we decided to get some biscuits and soft drinks to lighten our spirits a bit. That’s when we walked by one house. The guy sitting outside called us and I recognised him as one of the members of our ward. His name is Budu Kpeh, legit a legend. We sat down and just started talking. He served a mission in Ghana back in like 2016. He asked me where in from and I said AZ he was like wait give me a second. He ran inside and grabbed his journal from his mission and pictures to show us. He said he had one companion from Thatcher AZ and another one from Queen Creek. So that was wild. We just got talking about all his awesome experiences and stories from his mission. He introduced his family and kids to us and we hung out with them for a little. It was so epic. And yes of course we got an FM.

As we were walking away I was just smiling. I looked at my comp and was like bro now that is joy right there. This man was so strong in the gospel, had a great family, a great testimony. He sure didn’t have much temporally but gosh you could just tell he was so happy with what he had. And that is my witness to you.

THIS GOSPEL BRINGS JOY!!!

No matter who you are, where you are, or what you do… The gospel will always bring eternal joy.

2 Nephi 9:18 is a perfect scripture for this.

“But, behold, the righteous, the saints of the Holy One of Israel, they who have believed in the Holy One of Israel, they who have endured the crosses of the world, and despised the shame of it, they shall inherit the kingdom of God, which was prepared for them from the foundation of the world, and their joy shall be full forever.”

So my peoples, find light and truth in the gospel and LIVE IT. Keep your covenants so that one day, all of our joy will be full forever.

Kind of a pretty epic email if you ask me.

Anyway peeps I’ll just leave it with that. Nothing crazy happened this week and the work continues. We’ve got a lot to do here in Congo town and I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for us.

The gospel is true. It brings joy. Jesus loves you. Amen.

Elder Good Man
