Back to the field

This week was an adventure and an adjustment for sure!

I have officially been transferred and back into the full time field of missionary work. Well mostly. My new area (maybe even my last) is called Ganta. It’s a big commercial city way up in Nimba county right on the border of Guinea and Liberia. Like a 4ish hour drive from Monrovia haha. I would love to say I’m still a normal missionary but the Lord has asked something more from me I guess. There is only one branch up here in Ganta and President Thomas asked if I would be willing to serve as the branch president. So ya I accepted and it’s gonna be a fun next couple of months! Don’t really know how it’s gonna look or anything but I’m excited to get to work.

Monday was transfer day so I spent the morning driving around with the APs because I did not want to sit in the office for hours. But I still did end up sitting there for awhile haha. Got to talk with a bunch of people and all that. We waited for the Cramers, a senior couple, to come pick us elders up that were going out to the bush. So that afternoon we drove up to Totota and spent the night there cause we can’t drive in the dark. So I got to spend a night in the Cramers and oh boy that place is fancy! You almost forget you’re in Liberia haha. Then Tuesday morning we drove up to Ganta and got dropped off.

Ganta is a sweet area. The only problem is it’s huge! And we’ve only got 4 missionaries so it definitely keeps us busy. In the middle is a lot of commerce just because it’s on the border so it’s a lot of trade and things. But once you go inside it can be pretty beautiful with all the bush!

I must admit I’m missing some of the perks of the office. A car, washing machine, unlimited electricity, supermarket. But good things can’t last forever I guess. My new apartment is actually pretty nice though so I’m grateful. Our AC is broken though so it’s been pretty hard to sleep 😂. That’s taken some getting used to.

But other than that I’m loving the challenge for sure! One of my goals is to get to know all the members by face and my name. I don’t know how but I’m getting there small small. Most of the time that’s always been a struggle for me in last areas was to get to know the people fast. But the Lord is providing a way and I’m meeting a lot of amazing people!

One miracle for the week! In my first area, there was a recent convert named William that we had been meeting and studying with. About 2 months into my mission, he moved up here to Ganta. So we helped him transfer his record and get in contact with the missionaries before he left. All that was successful so that was good. Well on Friday we were walking through our area when I remembered about William and how he’s living here in Ganta now. So that evening we gave him a call and he was so excited to hear from us! He said he’s really struggling right now but that he would definitely be there to church on Sunday. Sure enough he showed up and it was great to see him again. Crazy miracle.

Anyway I wish I had more but I think that’s it for now. This will be a fun week and I’m excited to get to work out here in Ganta! Love you all and give me an update or sownthing.

Jesus loves you baway
