This week was solid one could say. Had its ups and downs. But most importantly, we gave it our all. Some highlights shall we?
– had zone conference which is always amazing! Learned some good things from my amazing mission leaders, President and Sister Thomas. I’ve realized now I’ve got a lot of work to do before I go home. Even as I continue after my mission in my life, there’s still and always will be work to be done. I’ve changed a lot on my mission. But it’s the eternal progression im going for 😁. Got to see some friends which is always fun. Had some good food too hehe. Sub sandwiches go crazy. I can’t wait to munch on Subway again. And the best part… The APs brought me some chocolate chips from the city and my old blanket that I’ll use to make more lapa ties. Hooray! But the most clutch part? They also brought my old Star Wars slides that I left in Sinkor. Aint you know that May the Fourth coming soon. Cmon now! Gotta represent. We got back with about an hour of sunlight so you already know we cranked out some lessons and branch work. W day.
– had a baptism!!! Gray and Naomi were baptized on Saturday and welcomed so generously into the Ganta branch of the Church of Jesus Christ. Gray is a stud and very smart. Always reading his BOM and coming to BOM class and giving contributions. Naomi is the sister of one of the members here and has also been progressing well. She’s quiet but loves the gospel. So let’s go!!!
– had some crazy branch bene to do this week. Lot of phone calls and last minute checks. Begging the bank people. But we got er done and that’s what matters. No small exchanges though 😅
– continue to find and have our people progress well. It’s cool to see when an area progresses. It was hard when I first came to Ganta because we had to try and balance branch work and missionary work. Sometimes that’s the question. I’m I a missionary or branch president first? But now that we’ve got a system, things are flowing. At least.
Unfortunately with the good always comes the bad. Hence, we have opposition in all things. We received a very distressed and sad call Friday evening from a member of our branch. Serrina Tokpah, one of our members, had a daughter that tragically passed away in an accident. There was a big house fire in Ganta and the small girl was trapped inside with no way to get out or to get in. The fire truck had to be called but it was too far and too late. Princess was only 3 years old and boy she was a cutie. When we received the news, we immediately took a motorbike out to her house to see what we could do. It was very sad to see Serrina in a stage that she was. I quickly got on the phone and began calling every member I had a number for to come quickly and see how to help. And boy did they respond. They all dropped their things and came. Because of the time we had to head back to our apartment, but I was so grateful for the members and what they did.
Fast forward to Sunday. I gave some closing remarks in sacrament meeting and told the branch about Serrina and the accident. I shared how much I love and have a testimony in the Plan of Salvation and invited every one to go directly to Serrinas house after the block. And boy did they respond again! Over 100 members came to her place, with hymn books and broken hearts, and we sung multiple hymns as we helped our dear sister through this trial. We left her with a blessing, love and a smile on her face.
All around prayers for Serrina and her family!!! I love my Heavenly Father’s plan and know it is perfect. We may think we see flaws. But they are just pieces of a bigger picture.
Love ya all and hope yall enjoying life ooo.
Jesus loves you baway!!!
