What’s up gang! This past 2 weeks has been an adventure!
Last Monday I went to a meeting called Finishers Wanted with President and Sister Thomas. It’s for the missionaries that have 2 transfers left where we talk about finishing strong, getting ready to go home, and discuss what our missions have done for us personally! Called a trip to Monrovia out of it too. Got Chinese food, ice cream, free WiFi, washing machine load, and all the perks of Monrovia. Oh how I miss my city 🥲. But Ganta is way more hype and adventurous!
This week was wild. Super busy, super productive, and a lot of super weird things. To spare the details, I’ll just give you the best 3 stores ya?
– Friday evening I was making a lapa tie when I hear Elder Jones start screaming like a little girl in the kitchen. He came running in and said “Elder there’s a rat!!!” So Elder Tshomba, Jones, and I sprinted to the kitchen to kill this thing. It out maneuvered us in the kitchen and ran to the living room. And so the chase began. Then we were all screaming like little girls. We spent the next 10 minutes flipping over couches, chairs, our stove, fridge, and rice bucket until we finally got that sucker. At least. Now there’s only infinity more to kill.
– Saturday we had a baptism!!! We had one candidate and so did the other elders. Our candidate was Ma Mary and boy is she awesome or what! She’s an o ma that just loves God and Jesus. She’s only 1 of a handful I’ve seen actually cry and get emotional when we’ve studied. She is the definition of a broken heart and contrite spirit and was so ready to be baptized! She’d been waiting for this day for months! So there we were Saturday morning cleaning the chapel with our branch. Then the fun stuff happened. The water stopped filling the font. We spent 2 hours trying find the problem. And then we did. A dead pigeon had clogged the water tank. Don’t ask me how. It just did. So we had a problem. No water to fill the font. No water, no baptism. 98% of our branch said to postpone it and left. But we had some troopers. The family that reffered Ma Mary to us said “No we will have her baptism today!” They all started grabbing buckets and went to well next door. And so we said let’s do this. We legit pulled buckets of water out of a hole in the ground for 2 hours. I was hauling that water for an hour straight and holy cow my back was exploding. But I would draw water, our members would take the bucket to the font, and we had a thing going. It was epic! Eventually our baptism started by 2 but we got er done! All our members were saying the next day, the devil tried but at least we beat him. Amen to that!
– And now for the last fun story. Saturday morning we went to the chapel to start getting ready for service and some meetings before church. And then we unlocked the place. And the whole third and second floor were flooded. Some kid had left on one of the taps on the top floor and it had been going the whole night. I don’t understand how cause the day before was when we were having problems with the water for the baptism and it wasn’t working!!!! Anyways we spent about an hour pushing that water out of the chapel again. This is the 2nd time the chapel has flooded on me now here in Ganta. Iyaka
Anyways I’m just super happy to be out here. I’m loving my mission, loving life, and loving these people!
Shout out to my amazing and beautiful mom HILLARY for Mother’s Day!!! Love ya mother!
Anyways that’s it for this week peoples. Love ya all. Hit me up with an update.
Jesus loves you baway!
